Coding Your Future: Equipping Local Youth with Digital Tools and Mentorship
On Sat, Jul 05, 2025, Ed&Beyond Ltd proudly partnered with the Global Hope Builders Network (GHBN) and Open Heavens Community Church to host our collaborative Coding Your Future workshop. Held at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College, this free community event brought together local young people aged 14–25 to explore the practical world of technology, software creation, and tech-focused career pathways. Our goal for this milestone initiative was to break down structural barriers to digital education, providing a direct link between classroom learning and real-world industry demands.

Core Highlights & Collaborative Delivery
The success of the day relied heavily on a shared commitment to youth empowerment, combining localized resources with direct industry mentorship:
Empowering with True Hardware Infrastructure: To ensure every young person had the practical means to participate fully without barriers, Ed&Beyond deployed 10 dedicated laptops for the training session, closing the immediate digital divide for attendees.
Hands-on Coding Masterclass: Led by a guest tutor with over 20 years of experience as a Head of Computer Science, the youth jumped straight into a foundational, high-impact session focused on core coding logic and applications.
Industry Expert Panel & Mentorship: During the afternoon session, titled "Navigating the Future of Coding," industry professionals across cloud engineering, cybersecurity, and web development shared their career journeys. Ed&Beyond founder, Edward Yebuah-Okwei, sat on the expert panel to provide direct mentorship, answer technical questions, and offer strategic career advice to the aspiring creators.
Diverse & Collaborative Networking: The workshop brought together a brilliant, diverse mix of young people—including aspiring data analysts, graphic designers, journalists, and writers. The day concluded with a relaxed networking session over snacks, where participants connected over shared ideas and received free takeaway resources to continue their training journeys.
Community Insights & Sustainable Next Steps
The honest conversations we shared with these young people gave us invaluable data that will directly shape how we support our community moving forward:
Navigating the Rise of AI Together: Many young attendees expressed genuine concerns about AI disruption and shifting job markets. This feedback validated a core pillar of our initiative: teaching youth to view and utilize AI as an empowering co-pilot that enhances human creativity, rather than a threat to their career resilience.
Tech is Interdisciplinary: Seeing creatives, writers, and technical minds collaborate effectively proved that an interdisciplinary framework (THINK, BUILD, CREATE) is exactly what the next generation needs to thrive.
Launching "Tech & Pizza" Meetups: When asked what format of support they desired next, attendees requested casual, hands-on, and non-intimidating spaces to keep learning. In direct response, we are looking to formalizing a regular Tech & Pizza meetups alongside a dedicated peer community board to sustain this learning momentum.
Working with Us: A Framework for Long-Term Impact
This empowering day was a testament to what can be achieved when grassroots organizations and purpose-driven tech initiatives unite. By combining practical infrastructure (like hardware provision) with executive mentorship, we create verifiable, career-ready pipelines for underrepresented youth.
We extend our sincere thanks to Global Hope Builders Network, Open Heavens Church, our panel speakers, and the local volunteers who made this landmark day possible. Ed&Beyond remains dedicated to scaling these free community training models locally and internationally.
